Exploring Christianity > The Bible
| We believe the entire Holy Scriptures, both the Old and New
Testaments equally, to be the verbally inspired Word of God in
the original manuscripts. By this, we understand that
the Holy Spirit
not only inspired the thought of the writers, but also
formulated the very word structure into which the thoughts were
cast, with the result that the original documents were inerrant
as to fact and infallible as to truth; that the Holy Spirit
guided in the transmission and preservation of the sacred text
so that we have what is the original text. It has supreme and
inerrant authority in all matters of faith and conduct. It
shall be interpreted literally, grammatically, historically, and
dispensationally, but is the best interpreted of itself with
light given by the Holy Spirit. |
| This is what we speak, not
in words taught us by human wisdom but in words taught by
the Spirit, expressing spiritual truths in spiritual words.
I Corinthians 2:13(NIV) |
| All Scripture is
God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking,
correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of
God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work. II
Timothy 16-17(NIV)
|
| Above all, you must
understand that no prophecy of Scripture came about by the
prophet's own interpretation. For prophecy never had its
origin in the will of man, but men spoke from God as they
were carried along by the Holy Spirit. II Peter 1:10-21(NIV)
|
| I tell you the truth,
until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter,
not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear
from the Law until everything is accomplished. Matthew 5:18(NIV)
|
| "I (Jesus) have much more
to say to you, more than you can now bear. But when he, the
Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all truth. He
will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears,
and he will tell you what is yet to come. He will bring
glory to me by taking from what is mine and making it known
to you. All that belongs to the Father is mine. That is why
I said the Spirit will take from what is mine and make it
known to you. John 16:12-15(NIV)
|
| In those days Peter stood
up among the believers (a group numbering about a hundred
and twenty) and said, "Brothers, the Scripture had to be
fulfilled which the Holy Spirit spoke long ago through the
mouth of David concerning Judas, who served as guide for
those who arrested Jesus-- Acts 15-16(NIV) |
