| Karl and Kristan Thieme were raised in Christian homes and accepted Jesus Christ at a young age. They met in 1997 at a College/Career small group in Parkland, Washington. Kristan’s first exposure to missions was in 1999 when she went to Romania to work with orphan children. Over the next two years, Karl was also able to spend some time in Romania and God began to spark an interest in their lives concerning contributing to His Great Commission. After their marriage in 2002 at Lake City Community Church, Karl and Kristan began actively seeking ways their skills would be useful for eternal consequences. Karl has an electrical engineering degree, has worked as a design engineer with Intel Corporation for the past 11 years, and has over 20 years of live sound mixing experience. Kristan’s degrees are in non-profit management and special education. She has experience as an accountant, computer technician, and middle-school special educator. In 2003, the Thieme’s spent over two months in Nenana, Alaska with Voice For Christ Ministries (VFCM) at KIAM 630AM. It was during this time that Kristan became a regular radio announcer and Karl fixed computers, radio transmitters, satellite dishes, missionary vehicles, worked on construction projects, plowed roads, and many other things. They moved to Houston, AK in June of 2006 and are now both serving our Lord Jesus Christ at KAGV 1110AM, VFCM’s newest radio station. |
